Theologian and speaker Dr. John Diamond said the concepts of God, government and people’s rights are interconnected and cannot be separated. He put this idea forward during an Aug. 25 episode of America Unhinged on Brighteon TV. Diamond added that the separation of God from government, which was an alien concept not found in the Constitution, caused the collapse of the U.S.
He began by mentioning five institutions that influence Americans’ political and social thought. Two of these – the church and the government – exuded an authority over the people. Meanwhile, the other three – Hollywood, the media and schools – did not. Diamond then quoted the book of Deuteronomy, specifically the verse of the Lord making the church “the head, not the tail” (Deuteronomy 28:13).
However, he lamented that the church had “abdicated leadership” over the years and had limited itself to the four walls of their physical structures. The theologian then reiterated Jesus’s call for people to be the salt of the earth and light of the world.
Diamond elaborated that the Declaration of Independence served as America’s statement of faith. It said that all men are created equal and are endowed with certain unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These truths had the backing of the Divine Authority of God, which the government represented.
He also pointed out that Americans have the right – a duty even – to stand up against tyrannical leaders. Diamond quoted the portion of the Declaration that said: “[Whenever] any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.
Importantly, Diamond pointed out the mention of the Lord God as the Creator and Supreme Judge in the Declaration. “Now who is the Creator? This is not some deistic God that has no name or no face, which is what the secularists want you to believe. The Founding Fathers understood who the Creator was – [it] was Jesus Christ,” he said.
Diamond then looked at the other side, in which God was no longer the supreme authority. He compared this to the fall of Lucifer who desired to “be like the Most High.” A nation where God is no longer the supreme authority was “a satanic delusion,” he added.
According to the theologian, separation of church and state was an alien concept to the U.S. He said: “You want to know where it’s found? The Soviet Union Constitution of 1936, Article 124. The church shall be separate from the government, and the church from the schools.”
Removing God as the supreme divine authority formed part of the Communist strategy to take over the U.S. Diamond added: “In an atheistic society, government replaces God [as the] supreme authority on matters of morality.” The separation of church and state led to disastrous consequences in America, which Diamond gave examples of.
He noted that the moment church and state were separated, the genie was out of the bottle and Pandora’s box was opened up. The drug revolution and sexual liberation espoused by the hippie movement became widespread. Premarital sex alongside calls for legalized abortion also became prevalent. Homosexuality, and later transgenderism, also became widespread.
“It was just all absolute rebellion being taught in our universities. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to look at America and figure out what happened,” Diamond said. Despite this grim warning, Diamond remarked that there was still a chance to make things right. “The solution is easy. Just get back to where we were before … on these things. Where God was supreme [and] the ruler of the universe,” he said.
The theologian ultimately asked: “Are we a nation that is going to be under God … and submit to His authority? Or are we going to be a nation that rebels against God and cast Him off?”
