The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is in hot water after a leaked memo revealed that some FEMA workers are refusing to provide federal aid to people who support Donald Trump.
At least one individual was “removed from their [sic] role” over the scandal, which involved FEMA workers being told to “avoid Trump houses” in Hurricane Milton-ravaged central Florida.
A FEMA supervisor named Marn’i Washington reportedly told aid workers to “avoid homes advertising Trump” while canvassing Lake Placid, Fla., in search of residents who qualify for federal aid.
Washington told FEMA workers both verbally and in a group chat that they should not help anyone in need who in any way appears to support Trump, i.e., with yard signs or Trump flags.
“When we got there, we were told to discriminate against people,” a FEMA employee confessed. “It’s almost unbelievable to think that somebody in the federal government would think that’s okay.”
“I volunteered to help disaster victims, not discriminate against them,” the employee continued, noting that the directive was aimed at hurting Trump supporters at their “most vulnerable.”
“It didn’t matter if people were black, white, Hispanic, for Trump, for Harris. Everyone deserves the same amount of help.”

Washington sent the memo after criticism was levied at Joe Biden and his regime over what many saw as a sluggish response to Hurricane Helene in some rural areas of the South. In Roan Mountain, Tenn., for instance, locals reported that it took almost two weeks for FEMA to show up – 81 percent of Roan Mountain voted for Trump in 2024.
In south-central Florida, a similar situation occurred in Highlands County, 70 percent of which voted for Trump. After getting slammed by tornadoes, torrential rain and wind from Milton, residents of Highlands County had to wait a really long time for FEMA to help.
“The blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists in the federal bureaucracy is yet another reason why the Biden-Harris administration is in its final days,” tweeted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis just days before Biden and Harris were both ousted at the polls.
“New leadership is on the way in D.C., and I’m optimistic that these partisan bureaucrats will be fired.”
The scandal is big enough that FEMA actually responded to it by firing – “removed” is the word the agency used – Washington “from their [sic] role,” calling her actions “deeply disturbed.”
FEMA claims it is taking “extreme actions to correct this situation,” adding that FEMA officials are “horrified that this took place.”
Keep in mind that just because Washington was ‘removed from her role’ does not mean that she was fired. In fact, it appears that Washington is still employed by the government, aka U.S. taxpayers, but now simply occupies a different role.
“This person needs to go to jail,” one person wrote on X / Twitter about how Washington should be punished for what she did.
“Unless ‘removed from role’ means fired, FEMA needs to rethink their response,” wrote another about how Washington’s punishment should be more severe.
Not only Washington but whoever else is above her should also get canned, added another.
“The person’s boss should be fired, and that person’s boss. They are responsible for the people who report to them. And how about the people who received that message? ‘I was just following orders’ is not an acceptable response. If the person didn’t lodge a complaint, they should be fired.
