Negotiations to establish the globalist World Health Organization‘s (WHO) Pandemic Treaty appear to have collapsed.
According to 100 Percent Fed Up, the failure of negotiations between countries concerning the pandemic treaty means the global health body won’t be finalizing the document. Despite this, it urged people not to lower their guard as the WHO “will undoubtedly attempt its authoritarian power grab again.”
“Roland Driece, co-chair of WHO’s negotiating board for the agreement, acknowledged that countries were unable to come up with a draft. [The] WHO had hoped a final draft treaty could be agreed on at its yearly meeting of health ministers … in Geneva,” the Associated Press (AP) reported.
“We are not where we hoped we would be when we started this process,” said Driece. He added that finalizing the pandemic treaty, which would give the WHO overarching power to supersede national sovereignty during pandemics, was important “for the sake of humanity.”
According to Driece, the World Health Assembly would take up lessons from the WHO’s work and plot the way forward. The official also urged participant nations to make “the right decisions to take this process forward” to ratify the pandemic agreement “because we need it.”
“The draft treaty had attempted to address the gap that occurred between [Wuhan coronavirus] COVID-19 vaccines in rich and poorer countries, which WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said amounted to ‘a catastrophic moral failure,'” the AP continued.
Despite the less-than-stellar outcome of the final day of negotiations, Tedros insisted that the failure of the pandemic treaty “was not a failure.” He added: “We will try everything – believing that anything is possible – and make this happen because the world still needs a pandemic treaty. Many of the challenges that caused a serious impact during [the] COVID-19 [pandemic] still exist.”
“The co-chairs of the treaty drafting process didn’t specify what caused the logjam, but diplomats have said vast differences remained over sharing of information about pathogens that emerge and the sharing of technologies to fight them,” according to the AP.
The outlet said the treaty’s latest draft stipulates that the WHO should get 20 percent of pandemic-related products like tests, treatments and vaccines. It also urges countries to disclose their deals with private companies.
But as Driece mentioned, not everyone was on board concerning the pandemic treaty. The United Kingdom has refused to sign the said treaty, with a government representative confirming the move to the Telegraph. (Related: U.K. refuses to sign WHO Global Pandemic Treaty.)
“We cannot comment on the details of specific proposals, and no proposals have been agreed [upon],” said a spokesperson for the British Department for Health and Social Care. “We will only support the adoption of the accord and accept it on behalf of the U.K. if it is firmly in the [British] national interest and respects national sovereignty.”
Meanwhile, 24 Republican governors penned a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden urging him not to sign the pandemic treaty. They argued that the proposed changes under the accord “could drastically change the role of governors in response to their charge as the state health officials.” Ultimately, the state chief executives warned that the WHO’s pandemic treaty could undermine national sovereignty, infringe upon states’ rights and jeopardize constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.
Members of the Senate GOP also wrote to the Biden administration, urging the president to stand against the treaty and refuse to sign off on it. The senators argued that the draft treaty focused on issues like “shredding intellectual property rights” and “supercharging the WHO.”
